traveling with kids beyond theme parks:
Exploring science, technology, engineering, art, and mathematics while discovering your world
My family and I live in Santa Barbara, California. I love going on little "adventures" with my two young daughters, taking them on day trips or short weekend trips to experience new things that can challenge them in some way—though our jewel of a town has much to offer, too!
Though many come to Southern California for the theme parks, I think it has a lot more to offer. As a programmer and lover of all things science, I tend to look for activities that can foster a deeper understanding of our world.
This blog is a home for educational kid-friendly activities centered around Southern California—though I occasionally explore other areas when I get the chance! And because we don't travel all the time, I'll also share fun facts, travel advice, and product recommendations to make your adventures more enjoyable.
ABout ARIANE COffin
Call me a jane-of-all-trades or a multi-hyphen career gal, the point is that I’m hard to fit in one box. I come with a decade of experience as a software engineer, a foray into science blogging, a passion for reading and writing children’s books, an interest in copywriting and UX design, and an untreated obsession with online courses. The common thread here is that I love breaking complex concepts into simple products, whether it takes its shape in code, text, or design.
These days, I spend my time programming cool solutions for difficult problems, creating nerdy content for our family YouTube channel, valiantly advocating for peace between my to-be-read list and my to-do list (a losing battle), and exploring the natural wonders of Southern California with my little hellions.
